Recently, I spoke to few guys in USA, who are in their mid-level career and highly talented. The pandemic has puzzled them on to respond to the situation, and one of them was terribly tensed as he lost his job recently. My response to them was to become aware of ‘Now’, and only to focus on ‘Present’.
This is explained beautifully in ‘Euthyphro’.
‘Euthyphro’, written by Plato is a Socratic dialogue; it has lot of wisdom worth pondering. Socrates is well known as the Father of Western philosophy; Plato was his notable student.
It says, fear is the anticipation of bad reputation, which kills the objective growth of present. The ‘Present’ which is more powerful than the ‘Past’ and ‘Future’ can always galvanise magic within us and will reduce levels of anxiety and stress. However, we humans barely give importance to the ‘Present’. Either we are hooked to dead ‘Past’ or hinged to unborn ‘Future’. Being aware of the ‘Present’ and acting upon it can make life better.
‘What-is’ is ‘is’… Accepting it will bring the oscillating mind into ‘Present’. COVID times provide us moments to take a pause, reflect upon and become aware of that ‘Present’….
