Are YOU becoming Tech Obese?

By Manoj Gupta, Founder

Have you ever heard of “tech obesity?” It’s a term used to describe the negative effects of excessive technology use on our physical and mental health. And it’s becoming more and more common in our tech-saturated world.

Personally, I know I’ve experienced times when I’ve spent too much time on my phone or computer, and felt drained or anxious afterwards. It’s not a good feeling, and it’s important to be aware of the impact technology can have on our well-being.

So, how do you know if you’re becoming tech obese? Here are some signs to look out for:

  1. Spending more time on your devices than you intend to.
  2. Feeling anxious or irritable when you can’t use your devices.
  3. Neglecting other important areas of your life, such as work, relationships, or hobbies, because of technology use.
  4. Feeling physically or mentally drained after extended periods of technology use.

If any of these sound familiar, it might be time to take a break from technology and reevaluate your relationship with it.

But how do you avoid tech obesity in the first place? Here are some practices which I follow:

  1. Set specific times of the day when you will not use technology or limit your use to a certain amount of time per day.
  2. Create technology-free zones in your home or office where technology is not allowed.
  3. Find other ways to unwind and entertain yourself, such as reading a book, playing a sport, or spending time with friends and family.
  4. Practice mindfulness when using technology, paying attention to your physical and emotional responses to it.

Technology is a tool that should enhance our lives, not detract from them. By using it mindfully and in moderation, we all can maintain a healthy balance between technology and real life.

Tech obesity is a growing problem that we all need to be aware of…and address it proactively…
